July 5th 2014,
I call it "The most beautiful day of the year" because it truly was a beautiful day, a very special kind of day. The sun was shining on that July sprung morning, Kirsty stayed at our home for the night and Sanjay and his family stayed in their home. Excitement filled the house from the moment July 5th arrived.
From the venue at Langdon Court, to the designing and the cake... all of those small details and defined finishes, most especially the bride. All beautiful. My aunt named Kirsty, the bride, made a beautiful wife. Her now husband, Sanjay is honestly the most lovely Dentist I have ever met. They both work in the same Dentist surgery, they have the same friends and they had known each other for years.
Kirsty and Sanjay are a lovely couple. Kirsty, the perfectionist, well actually I'd be untruthful if I didn't tell you they both weren't perfectionists! Their wedding day was perfect.
From the moment I woke up, I felt excited. I was in fact the Chief bridesmaid and I was pretty nervous about it, too. My nan Dora, and Kirsty both woke up, followed by my uncle and soonest we knew, the household was full of people! Friends and family, the make up lady, the hairdresser, the florist - we were all cheerful. There was champagne, orange juice, croissants and fresh fruit for all.
The flowers had arrived before we started to get ready, which was lovely as we could inspect them for that little bit longer. None of the family had seen the flowers, as Kirsty had chosen and picked them herself. They were a lovely yellow and white bunch, all wild flowers which is different to any I had seen before.
I was itching to get my dress on from the week before! My dress was a lovely yellow shade, called sunshine. It was strapless, flowing and had a pretty flower gather detail on the side. Kirsty had bought me a new necklace and earnings, simple but effective, to wear on the day.
I had my hair done, neatly and up out of the way. I done my own make up (proud moment!) and got myself ready. Kirsty had been nervous all morning. It took myself, my nan and a little help from my sister Bethany, a bridesmaid, to get Kirsty in her dress.
The dress was amazing. A fish-tail design, lace from head to toe and not too many jewels. A pretty little tiara to match. Kirsty had followed the rule "something borrowed, something blue" and she wore her friends wedding shoes, again a lace high heel design. Kirsty, as mentioned, is a perfectionist - so the dress had to be absolutely perfect. I can tell you, it looked just that.
We excited and nervously awaited for the cars to arrive. Kirsty's vintage car pulled up, spectacular and bold. I love old cars... The bridesmaids too rode in style in a posh Mercedes with Nan accompanying us.
We arrived and everybody was outside to welcome us. Family, friends, Sanjays family who we had not all met just yet. It was lovely! The sun was shining, the bright blue sky upon the old fashioned but beautiful buildings and garden. Whilst the weather was so supreme, we all expected to go inside to start the ceremony. However, we were directed to the gardens... to find the most beautiful sheltered wedding area, they were getting married outside!!

The song, the walk and the ceremony was superb. We all roasted in the sunshine, but the words spoken took away the heat and we all listened in trance. The registry book was signed... I now pronounce Husband and Wife! Hooray!
Please see my "Photographs: Wedding Bells at Langdon Court" for more pictures!
After the ceremony, we were directed back to the grounds of the building and gardens. The photographer snapped the bridesmaids and bride, the family members, the women, the men and many more shots. She took us up on the grassed gardens and made us complete all sorts of poses. From running towards the camera, to sitting on a vintage bench, photos of our flowers and dresses, the bride and groom and many more.
The details made the day so special. There was drinks, Pimms and juices for all ages. An ice cream stall set up around the corner produced entertainment for all, especially as it was so hot! Everybody commuted to the house whilst the staff prepared the meal rooms whilst all of the guest explored the beautiful rooms and bedrooms. There were a total of 9 rooms booked for guests to stay, all paid by the new Bride and Groom.

The cake was a three tiered flavour. The bottom layer: chocolate sponge with a cream filling. The second layer: a victoria sponge with a cream and jam filling and the third layer: a lemon flavoured sponge. Covered in white daisys, the cake really stood out with the flowers. The cake had been made by Kirsty and Sanjays neighbor, a cake designer.
The reception;
Once the meals and tables had been set, we were all guided into the reception room which was decorated in a very K&S themed design. They both loved quirky things, but managed to keep most of their house walls and themes white with added detail in the furniture. We had all gathered to Kirsty and Sanjays a few weeks before the wedding to design and create the numbers for each table.
The numbers can be seen on each table in this picture.
My table placement and small token of appreciation. Lemon chocolates from Hotel Chocolate.
Name tags and table numbers. Completed with beautiful butterflies and following the yellow happy theme colour...
The groom took his speech next. Sanjay is a lovely man. A man of polite manner and good taste. He made everybody laugh a lot in his speech, he thanked the guests for coming, parents of each party and the bridesmaids and best man. It was lovely. Myself and the other bridesmaids were presented with a gift, a beautiful hanging plaque of which displayed the words...
"For a Special
Bridesmaid
Thank you for all your support, help & kindness,
you made our special
day perfect"
The best man's speech also made everybody laugh. You see, Kirsty and Sanjay had the same friends. However, both families are quite large in capacity so the room was full of conversation and laughter. The staff were ever so kind and we all enjoyed our food very much.
The first dance;
As always, the first dance is one of the most important and lovely moments of the day. We all gathered to the dance area of Langdon Court to witness the new Bride and Groom commit their first dance. Langdon Court, as beautiful as ever, fulfilled with a splendid DJ and the sounds of Al Green - Let's Stay Together.
We all "aw'ed" together in harmony. Kirsty's flowing dress, the way the new couple look at each other as they finally have a moment. Not alone, not entirely, but to themselves whilst they dance. Everybody soon joined in and the disco kicked off as a hit. The young children, all excited and rushed from there feet to dance to the cool music from the DJ. Some classics, some old school songs and the new and funky new sounds of modern hip hop, a little for everybody.
Drinks flowing, the night going so smoothly and the dark sky upon us outside. Soon to be told everybody was merry and up on the dance floor or at the bar. Lighting outside made way for the smokers, the cool air outside made it enjoyable for all audiences.
I danced the night away! It was now time to relax into our glorious room. Myself, my sister and my Nan had the second bridal suite. A luxurious darkened wood furnished bedroom. Head to toe in comfort and elegance. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited to go to sleep...
A snippet of the bathroom.
The morning after we all arose. The bride and groom already dressed and in the reception area for breakfast. A choice of English breakfast, bacon, fruit, cereal, coffee and tea and vegetarian options boasted for the Langdon Court experience. Some, a little worn from the night before, opted for a light coffee or tea. I, however, have never been shy and I chose the English breakfast and what a splendid meal it was.
We all piled our belongings, gathered our items and collected extra items from the wedding to take home. It was now time to part with Sanjays family, as they made their journey back to London. The sun still shining a beautiful glow over the house, everybody merry and cheerful. There were hugs everywhere.
Then, out of the blue, came the old fashioned beautiful car Kirsty had originally rode to the wedding in the previous morning. The morning of the wedding, Sanjay had hopped into his family members Mercedes for a fast and stylish ride, however, he did in fact wish to travel in the old fashioned way, just like Kirsty had.
It turns out, Kirsty had booked a little surprise. As the car pulled up, a puzzled Sanjay began to question and we all knew. Kirsty and Sanjay would be travelling back to Plymouth in style, once more. She had booked the car for the next morning. Off they rode back to Plymouth, Sanjay as happy as a child with a new toy. A great finish to a magnificent wedding.

Well done and Congratulations to Mr & Mrs Samaria.
