A little moment of Spontaneity...

So this year, as most of us teens have endured, I experienced my first love's break up. It sounds ridiculous and you forever get reminded of how young you are and how much life you have to live "you can't have truly loved him, you're still so young" but I'm telling you, you just know. It was real.

Anyway, I pondered around the thought that love stinks for a while then I finally came back to reality. I'm quite glad I had this break up. It not only opened my eyes to a few lessons that I'm grateful I've learned, but it also meant I had no ties, no strings attached and nobody holding me back.

So, what did I do?

Oh, I did the exact thing I have been waiting to do for years upon years. I booked my first adventure, a month of explore, travel and fun in a different country half way across the world...

I'm going to Australia baby!

Just look at that water!

So of course, I went straight on the internet in search of the perfect website offering all of the things I had dreamt of. I stumbled upon an awesome companies website, offering all of the trips and travel list essentials that anybody in my mind set would get excited about.

I had found http://www.gap360.com/ seriously, you've got to check it out.

As I read through their website, I found myself more and more engulfed into my travels. From going to wild animal retreats and working with the elephants & lions, to exploring beautiful Thailand and all it has to offer, to an American road trip... this website had my entire life goal in front of me.

Australia had caught my eye for many months before. Staff members in my work place had visited just before Christmas, another lady had moved just 6 months before. It was safe to say, it's definitely a place to explore. I read through their trips and the "Sydney to Cairns" http://www.gap360.com/sydney-cairns-adventure trip took my fancy.

It involved 16 days of fun filled adventure and a further 4 days of madness;

  • Jetboat around Sydney Harbour and see the iconic Opera House
  • Hike in the breathtaking Blue Mountains
  • Go on an exciting dolphin-spotting cruise from Port Stephens
  • Visit a Koala Hospital and see cute Koalas
  • Surf the waves with an optional surf lesson from stunning beaches
  • Relax in the hippie hangout of Byron Bay
  • See stunning Rainbow Beach and make your very own boomerang
  • Enjoy two full days of four-wheel fun on Fraser Island
  • Hand-feed wild dolphins on an unforgettable wildlife experience!
  • Camp in the Oz outback on a cattle station
  • Sail your way round the wonderful Whitsunday Islands
  • Explore the awesome Atherton Tablelands and take a night wildlife canoe tour
  • A guided nature walk to spot the elusive platypus
  • Add in a 4-day Cairns Adventure Package and go white water rafting, sea kayaking and hot air ballooning, plus snorkelling at the Great Barrier Reef
How could I say no?

I'm going to be holding one of these little guys, how sweet are Koalas!

I had been speaking with a member of the Gap 360 team for a few days just to get a feel of the trip. As a Gap 360 staff member, you are given access to try all of the trips for free to experience what they have to offer. I spoke with a girl called Georgia, she was so kind and helpful - it really made me feel at ease before I went on to book.

If you read my posts, you might have known I'm quite the inpatient type... I immediately started to think of how I could finacially afford this trip. It was a must, I had to do it but I had to think of my money. It turns out, they accept payment per month... how frickin awesome is that?! The trip all together cost me just over £2000, however I paid £180 each month which made my life totally easier. The trip included activities for each day which meant I only had flights and any spending money I wished to take to save extra for... hell yes.

Due for a heavy summer filled with festivals, beer and friends amongst working full time, I couldn't exactly book my flights until September. But when I did book them... it felt like the best day I had ever had. No more wasting money on random food or take-outs, my hard work was actually going to count for something I had been waiting to start for so long.

My little book of wonders from the travel agency... I had booked my flights!!!

My flights cost a grand total of £970 - which is actually pretty good considering it will take me just over a day to arrive in Australia. This also included full cover of insurance, which I most definitely needed as I seem to be the most clumsy person in the universe at times.

I had also booked to stay for a little longer... I'll be heading to the airport on 2nd June 2015 to arrive in Sydney, the capital of Australia, for one nights stay completely independently. I will arrive in Sydney on the 4th of June which gives me a little time to explore and get to the Hostel before out trip began.

The best part is yet to come. My wonderful trip across the beautiful East Coast of Australia lasts for 16 days plus the 4 days extra to dive in the Great Barrier Reef (oh my gosh!) reaching me to the 26th of June. I have also booked to stay 2 extra nights whilst I am in Cairns to explore the beautiful city and the pleasant locals and beaches. I will be away for the whole month... yippeeeee!

I cannot wait for my month full of madness in Australia, it's going to be a truly awesome experience - my first time of travel and I'll be all by myself. I seriously cannot wait and I also am extremely excited for what the future has to hold... bring it on!

I highly recommend you check out Gap 360 or STA Travel for any travel questions, bookings or trip gazing. They are the most helpful, wonderful and pleasing sights you'll find on the web.

If you've been to Australia, please comment and tell me all about it! I'd love to hear your travels and all of your stories.

Roll on June 2015!!!
